As we enter the festive period, we understand that this time of year can be very difficult when going through a bereavement. Christmas is often a time when loved ones come together and celebrate, but it is also a time when we miss those who we have loved and lost the most. It’s a time when their absence can be strongly felt.
Once again, we are sponsoring Christmas trees in the churches of St Andrew’s Alexandra Park, at St Martin’s Church in Gospel Oak and in the Christmas Tree Festival at All Saint’s Church, Child’s Hill. We’re using them to provide an opportunity for our families, and members of the parishes, to hang a star in memory of their loved ones on their preferred tree. For our Head office Camden branch and Hampstead branch we will have a tree for anyone that would like to this there. Their name can be written on the star alone or accompanied by a short message.
Many people took the opportunity to write on a star last year and told us how comforting they found it to see their loved ones’ names hung on the tree. Here are just a couple of the responses that we received:
“Thank you for sending this to me - such a lovely idea.”
“Thank you for thinking of us. It really does help.”
This year, All Saints’ Church will be holding a Grand Opening of their festival on 7th December 2024 from 3pm – 6pm (entry for adults is £1). All the trees will remain in place throughout the Christmas season should people wish to go to find their star or to hang one.
You are welcome to drop into our branches at Golders Green, Kentish Town and Muswell Hill to write a star if you are unable to reach one of the churches.
